Thyroid disorders have always been one of the most challenging areas for me. Thyroid imaging is “shared” by many radiologists, including the subspecialists (neuroradiologists, nuclear medicine, and so forth) and modality (ultrasound, PET/CT). As a Head & Neck/Neuroradiologist, I have always had a hard time keeping abreast of the latest advances in thyroid and parathyroid diseases because the advances have occurred in multiple disciplines.
Fortunately, this issue provides a comprehensive evidenced-based update on the state-of-the-art diagnosis and management of thyroid and parathyroid pathologic condition. There are articles devoted to a variety of thyroid and parathyroid disorders with specific articles focused on the diagnosis, staging, management, and treatment of thyroid carcinoma.
I would like to personally thank Drs Salmaan Ahmed and Matthew Debnam for coediting this wonderful issue. This issue is truly multidisciplinary with articles authored by internationally renowned experts who have contributed directly to the advances made within the past decade toward managing thyroid and parathyroid diseases. I am both honored and grateful to the editors and authors for their outstanding contributions!
